IGNTD

May 3, 2019

Today we’re talking about some of the biggest principles that IGNTD Recovery operates under. Whether you’ve read The Abstinence Myth or not, there are three main principles that I’ve put together to create the basis of what my approach to addiction recovery is. These three principles are 1) honest exploration, 2) radical acceptance, and 3) individualized transformation.

Just like building a house or starting a new relationship, if your foundation is shaky, then even the most beautiful construction isn’t going to matter because everything is going to crumble down the line. So that’s why today I want to discuss with you the first of these three principles: honest exploration — and why it is the key to building a solid foundation for the rest of your recovery on.

Topics Discussed:

[2:40] About today’s topic: honest exploration.

[6:22] The first component to doing honest exploration well: telling the story.

[7:43] About one of the clients who struggled in their relationship for eight years, and how honest exploration provided the much-needed solution.

[15:22] The second component after telling the story: the belief.

[18:34] The importance of honest exploration.

[18:55] Let me know: What stories have existed in your life for years or decades that you can go back and do a real, honest exploration of? I want you to understand the perspective that these stories have left you with.
